Wolves set for Cheltenham debut

WARRINGTON Wolves will be sending a team packed with top young talent to take part in the All Golds Cup at the Prince of Wales Stadium Cheltenham on Saturday April 24.
It will be the first time in its history that the famous Primrose and Blue colours of the Warrington club will be displayed at the high profile 9 aside competition is the blue riband element of the Cheltenham Rugby Festival.
Warrington Wolves Assistant Coach Richard Marshall is optimistic that the Wolves will give a good account of themselves:
“The All Golds Cup is a fantastic event for us to be involved in. We are aware of the quality of the sides competing and hold a realistic aim to progress in the competition.
“We have a strong national supporter base and this includes fans who live in Gloucestershire and the South West, so we expect to attract a good following.”
Festival Director Lionel Hurst has two reasons to be delighted with Warrington’s entry:”Firstly from the point of view of the event it is tremendous news to welcome a club with Warrington’s illustrious past and pedigree.
“Secondly it is the town where I grew up and have supported the club since schooldays.”
The much anticipated Cheltenham Rugby Festival commences on Friday April 23 at Newlands Park with the 1908 Cup for Gloucestershire Schools.
On Saturday April the 24 the Women’s Golden Fern Cup will unfold to be followed by the All Golds Cup which is scheduled to commence at 4pm and finish under floodlights.The gates open to the public from noon.
Entry on the Friday is free and admission prices on the Saturday are £10 f6r Adults and £5 for concessions.
Parking is free on both days. There is also music, dancing, bars and refreshments at the Prince of Wales Stadium.
