FITNESS enthusiasts across Warrington have raised more than £950 for the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal.
More than 100 participants worked out in three leisure centres – making it the charity’s biggest aerobathon.
Broomflelds Leisure Centre, Birchwood Leisure and Tennis Complex and Fordton Leisure Centre took part in the NSPCC’s inaugural aerobathon in the borough. They sweated their way through aerobic workouts including aquafit, bodycombat, aerobiking, step and pick and mix classes.
Dianne Clarke, health and fitness manager for the Warrington leisure centres said: “We were delighted to be supporting the NSPCC with its biggest ever aerobathon event and had a brilliant turnout.
“There was a great atmosphere and we were delighted to see so many people come and enjoy a range of fantastic workouts and classes. Thanks to everyone’s generosity we are delighted to have raised over £950 to help support the invaluable work the NSPCC does to help vulnerable children and young people. I’d also like to thank our instructors for their efforts in making the event a success.”
Warrington was one of a number of towns across the country to take part in the aerobathon, with 35 leisure centres taking part in the North West and hundreds of people joining in the fun.
Janette Drew, NSPCC community fundraising manager said: “I would like to thank everyone who took part. It is thanks to everyone involved that we are on target to raise a record amount of money.”
All money raised will go towards the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal and help make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children. With public support, the appeal will help to expand the NSPCC’s vital helpline services – ChildLine the UK’s free, confidential 24-hour helpline for children and the NSPCC Helpline for adults concerned about a child.
