Luke just loves the Army

A WARRINGTON Army recruit enjoyed his training so much that he is passing on his experience to others considering signing up.
Newly trained Vehicle Mechanic Luke Francis, 18, a former Woolston High School pupil, has returned home after completing his Phase One training.
He will share his Army experience with potential new recruits through the Satisfied Soldier Scheme, giving an insight into Army life.
Luke shone during his 14 week training showing determination and aptitude and was selected as Top Student.
He is now looking forward to the second phase of his training at Bordon, Hampshire, before joining his platoon. After completing his training, Luke will be a Vehicle Mechanic serving in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
He said: “I have loved every minute of the training and can’t wait to get stuck into the next phase. You are never 100 per cent sure what to expect from your training, but the first 14 week training course was better than I could have ever hoped and I know that this is the right career for me.
“That’s what makes the satisfied soldier scheme such a great initiative – young people have the opportunity to ask me all sorts of questions about my day-to-day job, training, pay and other benefits.”
He said the scheme took a “relaxed and informal approach” and as he was close in age to the potential recruits they were not intimidated.
During his visit to Warrington Luke plans to talk to young people in a variety of settings – such as the Army Careers office, town centre, schools and the Connexions office.
