Horrendous parking by parents

PARENTS taking children to Twiss Green Primary School, Culcheth are causing “horrendous parking problems” councillors have been told.
Police and the borough council are considering introducing waiting restrictions, members of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council heard.
But consultation will be carried out with residents first.
The meeting was told there were problems both in the morning and in the afternoon.
Police had received numerous complaints – particularly about the number of 4X4s which turned up at the school.
The most seriously affected area was Twiss Green Lane between its junctions with Petersfield Gardens and Layland Avenue.
Parked vehicles were obstructing footpaths and the road.
Coun Keith Bland said it was important to consult local people.
“We don’t want to alienate residents,” he said.

  1. At the school my son attends, it’s the parents (and grandparents) who blatantly park on double yellow and completely block the turning circle (the school is at the end of a road) so that no-one else can get in or out and if you challenge them politely and point out they’re blocking the road you get a mouthful of abuse, completely blanked or the excuse “I’ m on my way to work” It’s typical of the complete lack of consideration and respect for other people and the local community and I’m NOT just talking about parents here – some of the grandparents are the worst offenders.

  2. “Police had received numerous complaints – particularly about the number of 4X4s which turned up at the school.”!

why is it that there is this obsession with targeting a particular group and demonising it? I don’t drive a 4×4 I have never owned a 4×4 but somehow the media and these campaigners target something..a 4×4 takes up no space more than a normal car or a people carrier, yet for some reason someone thinks they can get more support by targeting a minority that is currently the topic of pursuit.

  3. I too have nothing against the “Chelsea Tractor”. But it only takes about 15 minutes to walk a mile! Dress your children in the appropriate clothing and walk them to school, they arrive allert and ready for a days education, and you have done your bit to save the planet. Think how much on your fuel costs it would save??

  4. Problem with that school is its all about status and which car you can be seen pulling up in! Most of them could walk their children to school but this would not be seen as prestigious enough!!!

  5. Wait until the stables are built at the rear of Petersfield Gardens!. There will be even more traffic then. Horseboxesand other large vehicles could be travelling along Twiss Green Lane and down Petersfield Gardens at school chaos times. I agree that the parking of parents at Twiss Green Primary is ridiculous. These arrogant ignorant people, park opposite eachother preventing residents from getting out of the close, they block driveways and run over gardens -and that’s just ordinary cars!.
