Skipper out for six weeks

WARRINGTON Town look set to be without their inspirational skipper Mike Tomlinson for at least six weeks after he suffered a torn knee cartilage in the 2-1 victory over Ossett Albion at the weekend.
It is a major blow for Town who are currently sixth in the Unibond Division One North table, one place off the play-offs, following a run of four games without defeat, including three consecutive victories.
Tomlinson, who was stretchered off shortly after helping Warrington take the lead at the weekend, confirmed the extent of his injury in a message to fans on the warrington-worldwide discussion forum.
Thanking supporters for their good wishes he said: “The hospital said I’ve torn the cartilage in my knee (God it hurt) – it’s the cartilage that should heal itself not the one that needs an op. They did say I may need an op if it doesn’t heal right.
“Its funny because it feels ok – just a dull, constant pain.
“I am on crutches until at least Friday when I have a physio appointment where they will tell me more about it. They will decide whether I need an MRI scan to see the damage. Early estimation I think is a minimum six weeks but will know more on Friday.
Tomo added: ” I am devastated because I’d just scored as well – but still we got the win and hopefully the boys can push on now, unfortunately without me.”

Pictures show Tomo celebrating his goal and lying in agony surrounded by his team mates.
