WARRINGTON Wolves will reach a special milestone at their home opener this Sunday against Harlequins RL as the ‘one millionth rugby league fan’ passes through the turnstiles at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Sunday’s match is the 118th rugby league match day to be held at The Halliwell Jones Stadium with the first match played six years ago on February 21 2004, when 14,206 spectators crammed into the ground for the visit of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
The Engage Super League XV home opener this Sunday is set to be another crowd pleaser with pre-match entertainment from X-Factor pair Jedward (pictured above) kicking off the afternoon.
Warrington’s Chief Executive Andy Gatcliffe said: “The club has had such loyal support from our fans over the years especially since our move to The Halliwell Jones Stadium six years ago. Reaching the ‘one millionth rugby league fan’ is an exciting milestone and on behalf of everyone at the Wolves may I thank you for your unstinting
support. We are looking forward to Sunday’s home opener as the team embarks on a new season and look forward to welcoming you all once again.”
The lucky one millionth fan will be presented with a match-day hospitality package for four people in the Martin Dawes East Stand lounge for the Crusaders game on
Sunday March 7.
