CRIME rates in Stockton Heath fell to their lowest ever level for December.
The parish council has been told figures were down for violent crime, drugs, burglary, some types of theft and anti-social behaviour.
Shoplifting figures were slightly up, however – particularly in the Latchford area.
PC Steve Martin told the council current priorities for the area were to tackle speeding on Fairfield Road, obstructive parking in residential areas and anti-social behaviour, mainly in Alexandra Park on Friday and Saturday evenings between 7pm and 10pm.
PC Martin told members that a speed awareness trailer, which flashes up a driver’s speed, will be stationed around the area to tackle speeding. Police were also trying to get speed cameras installed in the area.
A mobile youth club visiting Alexandra Park had caused difficulties as when it moved on there were more than 50 youths left who then gathered in the park, causing problems.
Organisers had agreed to site the club at Broomfields Leisure Centre where there were facilities for the youngsters, such as an Astroturf pitch, when the vehicle left.
