Snow cost children's charity £10,000

A CHARITY is gearing up to boost fundraising after losing an estimated £10,000 in income due to staff being “snowed out.”
Staff at the Children’s Adventure Farm in Millington, near Lymm had to dig their way back in after a week of being snowed out.
The farm, which aims to provide holidays for disabled and disadvantaged children, was hit badly with 10ft drifts on the car park and three ft of snow in the courtyard.
Helen Crowther, senior trust fundraiser said: “There was no possible way of us getting in.
“The surrounding roads made it far too dangerous for our staff to travel in so we were forced to close the farm for the entire week!
“One of our caretakers managed to get in each day to feed the animals, but he reported temperatures of -16 and advised it was far too dangerous for the rest of the staff to return.”
The Trust estimates that it lost £10,000 in fundraising income while its doors were shut and workers now have real graft ahead if they’re going to reach their target of £800,000 this year.
Helen added: “Luckily, the children do not start back at the farm for holidays until February so we didn’t have to disappoint them, but we now have to work extra-hard to ensure we make up the lost funds so we can bring over 3,000 children for holidays, daytrips and Christmas parties in 2010.”
