One man's loss

JUST one trader in Stockton Heath reported a loss of business during the annual winter market in the village.
The market, organised by Stockton Heath Festival committee, took place at the Forge Shopping Centre, The Mulberry Tree Inn and the Red Lion, in December.
Festival chairman Coun Tudor Pole said at the time that the market had proved “very good for business,” and shops, cafes and pubs had all reported an increase in trade on the day.
But Coun Graham Roughsedge told Stockton Heath Parish Council that one trader had told him that stalls outside his shop had resulted in him suffering a loss of business.
Coun Pole said he had visited the business concerned and believed it had been as busy as usual.
There were more than 50 pitches at the event, which was organised by volunteers. Parish councillors and visitors had praised the event.
