Householder tackles kitchen blaze

A HOUSEHOLDER tackled a kitchen fire in his own home at Warrington last night.
The blaze was in a house off Calgarth Avenue, Bewsey and involved an unattended pan on the cooker.
A smoke alarm was activated and the occupier was able to remove the blazing pan from the property and extinguish the blaze in the kitchen before firefighters reached the scene. Damage was restricted to the one room.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “But for the smoke alarm, this could have been a much more serious incident.”
