A YEAR of unrivalled success was celebrated at Warrington’s Priestley College when staff and students gathered to mark the achievements of those who had left in the summer.
The academic year saw the college’s pass rates remain above 99 per cent for the fifth successive year, while 73 per cent of students obtained A to C grades at A Level and there was a 100 per cent pass rate in all advanced vocational subjects.
Warrington Wolves head coach Tony Smith was the guest of honour at the presentation evening and handed out prizes and certificates to the former students – the majority now on university degree programmes.
A total of 18 individual prizes were also presented, representing the full range of curriculum areas and qualifications.
Students were able to have their photo taken with the Challenge Cup, won by the Wolves in 2009 for the first time in 35 years.
The college’s choral ensemble Breathe provided musical entertainment.
College principal Mike Southworth said: “Presentation evening at Priestley is always a really special occasion on the calendar and one we always look forward to as an entire college community.
“It was really great to see our returning students. They were a special group of learners who deserved an evening like this as a lasting memento to all their hard work.”
