Budget meeting hit by big freeze

0

THE “big freeze” put paid to the annual meeting between Town Hall bosses and business leaders at Warrington to discuss the council budget for the forthcoming financial year.
Council chiefs called off the meeting – which should have taken place on Thursday – because of the atrocious weather conditions.
It will now be held on Tuesday, January 19 at the Town Hall at 5pm – and as a result the deadline for business people to respond to the proposals will also be extended.
The meeting will allow council chiefs to outline the authority’s budget proposals for the next three years and provide an opportunity for business representatives to give their views. Details of the proposals can be seen on the council’s website, www.warrington.gov.uk/budget2010.
A webcast setting out the scale of the challenge the council faces is also available on the site.
It explains how the council is proposing to achieve savings as well as to continue to prioritise areas of investment.
Anyone planning to attend is asked to email Ann Hepper at [email protected] or call 01925 442529 to confirm their attendance.
