Special programmes for Christmas

TO help Warrington hospital patients enjoy Christmas, Radio General has three days of extra programmes over the festive period.
Christmas Eve sees a full afternoon of live programmes, followed by a live relay from Bethesda Evangelical Church of their Christmas Eve ‘Songs of Praise’. The Thursday Night Request Show, playing the patients’ requests, follows at 8:00 pm.
Christmas Day programmes starts at 9:00 am with Jim and Vee Jefferies and guests John Duffield the Hospital Chaplain, ‘Tony the Top Trackside Tipster’, John Campbell from WODAC, Catherine Beardshaw (Chief Executive of Warrington Hospital), a bit of Ken Dodd and the latest news from the Delivery Suite on the new Christmas babies.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Warrington, Brian and Irina Axcell will be visiting the studio at noon on Christmas Day to talk about their year as Mayor & Mayoress and what Christmas means to them.
Mike Taylor guides patients through the early afternoon from 12:30 pm and at 2:00 pm Mark Snowdon presents the ‘All Time Top 25 Request Charts’ with a look at the Top 25 most requested songs. The Queen’s Speech is broadcast at 3:00 pm.
A full schedule of afternoon live programmes start at noon on Boxing Day. Rugby fans will not miss out as Radio General will bring live coverage of the Widnes Vikings v Warrington Wolves match at 3:00 pm.
Keith Inman, Secretary, says “Christmas is a difficult time if people are in hospital. By presenting these extra programmes over Christmas we hope that the patients can enjoy Christmas.     The Politician and Mayoress of Warrington, Brian and Irina Axcell instrument be visiting the apartment at noontide on Season Day to divulge about their period as Politician & Mayoress and what Yuletide implementation to them.
