STAFF at Warrington Hospital are appealing for local people and businesses to help to spread some festive cheer on the children’s wards by making donations of toys, games or gift vouchers that can be delivered on Christmas Day.
The gifts will be given to the children, aged up to 18, in hospital over the Christmas period. Play specialist at Warrington and Halton Hospitals Foundation Trust Kath Coleman said: “We’re asking for people to donate gifts to the children’s ward, so that the children who are not well enough to leave hospital get a special gift on Christmas morning.”
Presents should be delivered, unwrapped, but ideally with a donation of wrapping paper, to the children’s ward with a label stating if the gift is for a boy or girl, and the age range of the gift.
Staff also ask that name and forwarding address details are included, so thank you letters can be posted.
Father Christmas will deliver donated gifts to the children on Christmas Day. Any remaining presents will be saved for the hospitals’ bravery scheme and presented to courageous children who have undergone painful or unpleasant procedures and to children who spend their birthdays on the ward throughout the year.
Support from local businesses would also be appreciated. To get involved, or for further information on the appeal, contact Kath Coleman or Jill Holland, the Play Team on 01925 573582.
Spread some festive cheer

Brought a tear to my eye reading that as it’s something you tend not to think about unless you are unfortunate enough to be in a position where your child or one you know is in hospital. I will certainly donate as much as I can to their appeal and hope all other WWW readers and forum posters will too. 🙂
