Neighbour helps put out fire

A GOOD neighbour rushed to put out a kitchen blaze with a hose pipe when a tumble dryer caught fire in a home on Terrace View, Warrington.
No-one was in at the time – a mother who lived in the house was out picking up her child from school when the fire started just before 4.30pm last Friday.
The neighbour alerted fire crews when he saw flames through the kitchen window then did what he could to stop the flames spreading until they arrived.
The kitchen was severely damaged by fire and the rest of the house was smoke damaged but no one was injured and the adjoining properties were not affected.
A spokesman for Warrington Fire said: “The situation could have been worse had the neighbour not been so quick-thinking.”
