Liz keeps her wig on!

LYMM resident Liz Armstrong managed to keep her hair on when she made her TV debut on BBCs ‘The One Show’.
The 36-year-old mum of two is a partner in the Manchester-based business “Wigs up North!” and was helping the show out with a feature about the history of hair – from Elizabethan times to present day.
She worked closely with the programme’s resident hairdresser, Michael Douglas and filmed at Temple Newsam House in Leeds and Newby Hall, near Harrogate for the shows which will air on Monday and Tuesday (November 23-24).
Liz graduated from the London College of Fashion in 1994 and was head of wigs on national tours of top musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Saturday Night Fever and Miss Saigon.
She helped set up Wigs Up North! in 2004 to fill a gap in the theatrical wig-making market in the north of England. Its sister company, The Make-up Space, was launched the following year.
The business supplies wigs and make-up for both stage and screen and also has a growing list of private clients from those with hair loss to impersonators of famous people.
Liz said: “They wanted someone to help achieve the style needed while it was explained what was involved.
“It was very interesting and they were a lovely team of people to work with. But it felt a bit strange to be in front of camera because I have spent so much of my working life backstage.”
