A special charity event featuring Rowetta from the X-Factor takes place at Lymm golf club on Saturday November 28 to help raise funds for orphans in Africa.
The black tie event will include entertainment by local act Anneli who will perform with Rowetta who has also featured with the Happy Mondays.
The charity has been set up by local landscaper Paul Conreen and his wife Anneli, who were inspired after visiting Ghana in Africa. Their aim is health promotion and disease prevention.
Anneli said:”We want to make a difference to people, especially children in less fortunate places in the world. We went to Ghana in September and while we were there we did football coaching and donated footbal kits from Lymm Rovers and Cromwell JFC football clubs.
“We gave advice on nutrition and health, donating to St. Mary’s orphanage Nkawkaw, starting a water bore project to get clean water to two villages.”
They also provided HIV/Aids awareness and support.
“We had the opportunity to meet and work with organisations like OIC International, Ghana ministry of health Nkawkaw district, Holy family hospital HIV/AIDS clinic and with children and teachers at Abusco and Kwahuman scholl in Nkawkaw.
“It was an unbelieveable experience and we want to do as much as we can to help those who are less fortunate in the world,” added Anneli.
To donate to the charity visit the website www.holdingon.net. They sell wristbands and have produced a charity song composition and vocals by Anneli, produced by Steve Millington and guitar by Steve Morris from Deep Purple.
The team who visited Ghana were Paul Conreen, Anneli Conreen, Torunn Moe and Ebenezer Dapaah. The charity also have 2 other members, Hillary Knowles and Trevor Golding.
Tickets for the dinner are £35 and must be bought in advanced.
