Police asked to step up patrols

1

APPLETON Parish Council has made an appeal to local police to increase their patrols in the area in the run up to Christmas after an increase in burglaries was reported.
Police Community Support Officers told of seven burglaries in the Appleton area and 15 in Lymm during October.
The PCSOs didn’t attend the meeting of the Appleton council – preferring instead to be out on the beat in a fresh drive to be proactive.
But their report was presented to the council.
Coun John Price said: “When I heard these figures, I went down to the police station and talked to them about what could be done.
“We all know that Johnny Burglar does his Christmas shopping in November and I wanted to raise the issue with them.
“The police have agreed to increase foot patrols in the area over the next month and I would encourage all residents to be extra vigilant.”
