A WARRINGTON-based engineering, safety and risk management consultancy has invested in a state-of-the-art design data management system to improve its services.
ESR Technology has invested in SolidWorks Enterprise PDM software to make its design processes more secure and efficient.
The company operates the European Space Tribology Laboratory which provides a range of products and services to the space industry, including the design of highly specialised mechanisms for spacecraft.
The PDM system will enable the company to more efficiently manage the increasing volume of design data generated by its engineers, so giving easy access to up-to-date information for users.
The new system makes the design process completely electronic and automates a number of tasks such as the management of file access and revision control, the approval chain and the production of documents for distribution. A full audit trail is also captured and easily accessed to help maintain the highest levels of quality and compliance with demanding industry standards.
Chief executive officer Pat Lawless said: “This is an important step in the development of a secure and efficient design process which will help our project managers and production staff as well as those in design roles.”
