A SENIOR councillor has called for a special, extraordinary meeting of Warrington Borough Council following the recent Ofsted inspection which judged 15 services relating to children in care as being “inadequate.”
The demand has come from Coun Colin Froggatt, (right) Labour’s spokesman on children’s services, in a letter to the Mayor, Coun Brian Axcell.
He says if the extraordinary council meeting is held, he will put a motion to council asking for the leader, Coun Ian Marks, the portfolio holder for children’s services, Coun Sheila Woodyatt and the chief executive, Mrs Diana Terris, to “consider their positions.”
He will also ask them to apologise to the council and “the children and people of Warrington.”
Coun Froggatt will also move that the three give individual, written responses via public statements regarding their involvement, level of responsibility and whether they are culpable in the factors that have deemed to be inadequate within the report.
Finally he will move that the council supports the new Director of Children’s’ Services and her staff in the measures being taken to improve the services being offered for children in care and safeguarding of children in Warrington.
The motion would be seconded by Labour group leader Coun Terry O’Neill.

The scattergun approach of attacking a number of people always tends to fail. My guess is that the three people mentioned have already considered their positions and will be staying put.
The clowns are having it in turns banging the “it isn’t our fault” drum, it is a senior clown this time after the leading clown and the deputy leading clown. Who will be next?
