ANGRY Warrington residents are fighting plans to convert a vacant florists’ into a fish and chip shop.
The proposal involves shop premises in Knutsford Road, Grappenhall.
Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council has also lodged objections to the proposals.
Neighbours fears increased traffic, parking problems, late night noise, smell, litter and anti-social behaviour.
They also point out there is a retirement home nearby.
The parish council argues there is a need to retain retail shops in the area – particularly as there are two takeaway shops opposite.
Councillors believe the proposal would have a detrimental impact on the living conditions of nearby residents because of noise and disturbance such as car doors slamming, car radios blaring at night, engines running, etc.

They say the use of the building as a fish and chip shop is consistent with the commercial nature of the area and that no significant harm will be caused to the amenity of any nearby residential property.
There is also adequate parking provision, they claim,

at least it might provide ‘decent’ F&C’s and will probably be open at regular times! Look at Stockton Heath chippies -queing to the door because they are popular BUT you don’t have to wait more than 5 minutes to be served with decent chips and fresh fish and good servcie – just what the customer is entitled to!
