A WARRINGTON man has won a silver medal at the national final of the Construction Manager of the Year Awards.
Steve Wimpenny was successful in the Chartered Institute of Building awards held at Grosvenor House Hotel in London, and hosted by television presenter Natasha Kaplinsky.
Steve, who works for Mansell Construction Services, won in the “New Build and Refurbishment £7 to 10 million” category for his work on the £7.8 million development of Sefton Water Centre (sports centre) in Merseyside.
He kept a keen eye on design throughout the scheme, and worked on solutions to construction problems. As a result the building was completed five weeks ahead of schedule, despite incorporating £700k of variations.
