Children in danger warning

CHILDREN using the footpath on Windmill Lane could be at risk unless residents cut back their hedges, Appleton Parish Council heard.
Coun John Price said hedges on this lane were overgrown and making the footpath difficult to use. He asked the council to bring this to the attention of the borough council, who should write to residents asking them to take immediate action.
He said: “We fought long and hard to get a pavement on Windmill Lane and now it is almost impossible to use it. This is a particular worry now that winter is approaching and children who use the path may be forced to step on to the road. This is very dangerous and the residents need to be asked to sort this out.”

  1. Before the council starts attacking residents about overgrown hedges maybe they need to clean up their own yard first…. There are plenty of public paths where bushes are overgrown, trees covering road signs and leaves not being cleared up which makes the paths slippy and dangerous…..

  2. I don’t think they are attacking them Ian… they are merely requesting that WBC should contact the responsible residents and request that they do a bit of pruning for safety reasons. GOSH… DID I JUST STICK UP FOR THE COUNCIL THEN… EEK !

Another solution (if the hedges overlap the council’s public highway/pathway) would be for the council to cut back the offending hedges to just before the boundary of each property and throw the cuttings back onto the hedge owners land !! 🙂 🙂
