Patio doors approved for listed house

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for roof repairs to a Grade 2 listed building in a conservation area – together with installation of patio doors.
The property involved is an imposing, semi-detached house at the corner of

Walton Lea Road and Old Chester Road, close to Walton Hall.
An earlier application was refused because insufficient information was provided by the applicant to assess the impact on the listed building and the proposed colour of the patio doors would failed to preserve the character of the house.
But, after hearing that the patio doors would now be painted white, to match existing rear windows and that there was a need to replace existing felt and roof batons which were beyond repair, members of the borough’s development control committee have approved the application.
There were no objections from neighbours.
The property forms part of the Old Chester Road Conservation Area.
