WARRINGTON has scooped six of the coveted Green Flag Awards again this year.
The award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales which recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country.
It is designed to raise the standard of parks and green spaces.
Warrington was awarded six flags for the following parks: Lymm Dam, Walton Gardens, Fox Covert Cemetery, Risley Moss, Walton Crematorium and Burtonwood Cemetery. As winners, the six locations are judged to be welcoming, safe and well maintained with the strong involvement of the local community.
Coun Alan Litton, the borough council’s executive member for environment said: “We can all feel very proud that Warrington has so many excellent examples of thriving and popular parks and green spaces.
“This award means a great deal to the dedicated team of staff who work closely with their local communities to manage and maintain these important sites.
“Parks and green spaces are a vital part of community life. They provide safe places for our children to play and enable us all to get closer to and learn about nature and wildlife. Our parks are as much about economic prosperity, the visitor economy, climate change and healthy living as they are about leisure and recreation.”

  1. They are green spaces that provide a welcome to visitors and have voluntary assistance in doing so.

That’s the Criteria that needs to be met and they have done that.
