SEVERAL buildings in Warrington usually closed to the public are opening their doors this month as part of a national campaign.
It is the first year that Warrington Council is taking part in the national Heritage Open Days scheme. Visitors have the chance to view buildings that are normally closed to the public or charge for entry, free.
From Thursday September 10 until Sunday September 13, local buildings and organisations will be taking part.
Warrington Museum and Town Hall will both be open for tours and talks.
Cairo Street Unitarian Chapel (pictured), Friends Meeting House, Holy Trinity Church, the Masonic Hall, St Mary’s Church and Warrington Parish Church will all also be open over the weekend.
Coun Bob Timmis, the borough council’s executive member for leisure and skills said: “From chapels, churches and the museum to the Town and Masonic Halls, this fantastic weekend offers a great day out with a difference for the whole family.”
Booking is required for some tours. Information is available from www.heritageopendays.org.uk or from the local tourist information centre in the bus interchange.
