Lucky escape for flat dwellers

0

THE occupants of a flat at Warrington had a lucky escape when a tumble dryer developed a fault.
They had been using the machine, switched it off and went out. But on their return they smelled smoke coming from the dryer and pulled it out into the street where it burst into flames.
Fire crews were called to the scene in McKee Avenue, Longford and extinguished the fire using a hosereel jet and used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the flat. No-one was hurt.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “It was just luck that the fire did not start while the family were out.”
