A-LEVEL students are celebrating in Warrington after another bumper year for passes.
Students from Priestley College are particularly pleased after the college announced an overall pass rate of 99.1 per cent.
This means the college has maintained a pass rate of more than 99 per cent for five years running.
Significant growth at the college also saw A-Level entries increase by 20 per cent this year and unlike national trends Priestley had more students than ever opting to tackle traditional subjects such as Science, Maths, English and Languages.
There was a 100 per cent pass rate in 35 A-Level subjects while students obtaining A and B grades also saw a significant increase.
As always there were a number of individual success stories including Alex Thewsey and Thomas Harman who both landed four straight A grades enabling them to accept places at Cambridge University.
The results in vocational subjects were also very high, with no less than 55 students obtaining triple distinctions in their BTEC National Diplomas.
Principal Michael Southworth was delighted with the news.
He said: “Every year we strive to obtain the best possible results and once again our students have really excelled themselves.
“To maintain a pass rate of over 99 per cent for five years running is a great achievement that should be quite rightly celebrated. I wish all our departing students the very best for the future, they have been a credit to Priestley College.”
