Restaurant needs more parking

COUNCILLORS at Warrington are to visit a popular restaurant before deciding whether it can provide additional parking space for customers.
The Duckegg Bluu restaurant in Warrington Road, Culcheth, wants to alter the layout of its car park to provide an additional five spaces.
An application has already come before the borough council’s development control committee but members decided they should visit the site before reaching a decision.
Planning officers recommended permission should be denied.
They pointed out that a planning inspector ruled in 2004 that a similar proposal would have a significant adverse impact on nearby residents.
Although a fence, wall or landscaping between the restaurant car park and nearby houses could reduce the impact, noise and disturbance would still be likely to have an unacceptable impact on the houses.
Three nearby residents have objected to the plan.
The restaurant claims a shortage of parking space in Culcheth is damaging business.
