POLICE have sealed off a number of roads at Warrington following a chemical leak.
The leak – believed to be ammonia – took place this afternoon at premises on Hardwick Grange, on the Grange Industrial Estate at Woolston.
The building and one other nearby have been evacuated.
A police spokeswoman said it was not believed there was any danger to the public. Roads had been closed as a precautionary measure.
Police were at the scene, controlling traffic and the fire service was dealing with the leakage.
It was believed the leak had been contained to the building.
But she warned that there could be an impact on traffic in the area and advised motorists to seek other routes where possible.
There are no reports of any casualties.
