Performing arts – and pandemics!

YOUNGSTERS from Warrington enjoyed a residential summer school in performing arts – and took part in a show on the theme of “Pandemics.”
They were among 45 students taking part in the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts “Summer Experience” for youngsters from disadvantaged areas across the North West.
During the week youngsters from Lysander High School, Padgate – the former Padgate High School – worked on original drama pieces, music and dance, and enjoyed behind the scenes sessions on putting on a performance.
At the end of the week they performed in front of family and friends with their “Pandemic” performances in one of LIPA’s professional quality theatre spaces.
The youngsters were also given an insight into university life and higher education studies.
One of those taking part was Jordan, 14, (pictured) from Lysander High, who said: “I live with a foster family at the moment, and they’re great. But sometimes you need to be able to get away, and doing the drama and dance allows me to do that. I’m a big fan of Britney Spears – she’s a great all-round performer and just does everything.”
