School hit by arson attack

FIRE crews saved a Warrington school from serious damage after vandals started a blaze which threatened the whole building.
The fire at Penketh South Primary School, in Finlay Avenue, Penketh started in a bin compound, spread to a timber container shed and had reached the main school building by the time crews reached the scene.
Firefighters tackled the flames as they attacked the building and managed to prevent disastrous damage.
But there was severe damage to the outbuilding and compound.
Police and fire investigators have established the blaze was deliberately started.
It broke out at about 9.07pm last night (Sunday) and anyone who witnessed anything suspicious shortly before that time is asked to contact police on 0845 458 0000.
