THE weather played havoc with the local cricket programme, with most matches being abandoned without a ball being bowled.
In the Chapel Press Cheshire County League, Grappenhall’s first division title challenge was washed out.
Grappenhall 2nd were at home to league leaders Oulton Park and chose to bat after winning the toss.
Runs were hard to come by and the eventual total of 153 all out did not look enough. Dave Langhorne top scored before being run out.
But the visitors struggled against Sam Guest, 3-23 and Mark Rowlance, 5-32 and had lost three wickets with only nine runs on the board. Matt Titchard took 2-7 and the innings ended on 105.
Grappenhall 3rd, benefiting from Sunday’s better weather, also enjoyed a good win at Christleton
Losing the toss, Grappers were asked to bat first and declared on 209-5, Mark Tyerman hitting a superb 102 from 114 balls. Adam Roylance added 30 and Chris Crance 24.
Christle started disastrously, looking four wickets for seven runs and were finally dismissed for 73. J Critchley took 5-18.

Warrington did manage to play at Upton – but failed to take advantage of playing when most others didn’t and remain rooted at the foot of the table after a four wicket defeat.
Losing the toss they were put in and managed to reach a respectable 171-6 declared.
But the home side replied with 172-6.
Warrington 2nd managed to turn the tables however, defeating the Upton second string by five wickets at Walton Lea.
Howard Morris took 6-32 as Upton were dismissed for 105. Rob Stirrup chipped in with 2-16 and then top scored with 45 not out when Warrington replied with 110-5. Steve Roberts hit 26 not out..
