Calendar Girls boost for charity

THREE of the original “Calendar Girls,” – Angela Baker, Trisha Stewart and Beryl Stewart – helped at a fundraising event for Lymm charity The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.
They were guests at a Calendar Girls themed Ladies Lunch, attended by 280 women, for the children’s charity at Mere Golf and Country Club.
It raised £15,000 – £5,500 more than was raised last year by the annual lunch. There was a range of auction prizes on offer, including lunch at Bodysgallen Hall via a twin engine helicopter.
Guests enjoyed a champagne drinks reception and shopping at the 18 stalls. Penny Mac entertained during the reception with vocals and flute.
MC Ian Parrott welcomed guests including the Mayoress of Wirral and charity’s patrons Jennifer James and Sarah Storey. There was then a lunch, singing from Cole Page and a fashion show styled by Martine Alexander, with clothes provided by Moo Boutique.
Butlers in the Buff helped with a chocolate box raffle – with first prize of a VIP trip to see Calendar Girls in London. There was also a Victoria Sandwich cake raffle which had a prize of a Dublin break.
Highlight was a talk by the Calendar Girls, who told of their adventures since the calendar was launched 10 years ago and signed copies of their calendar.
Farm fundraiser Julie Gray said: “The Calendar Girls were fantastic – so inspirational and fun. They helped us to raise an astounding amount of money for disabled, terminally ill and disadvantaged children from all over the North West.”
