Club needs support for Wembley dream

A WARRINGTON junior soccer club which has been given a rare chance of playing at Wembley is urgently seeking support so they can make their dreams come true.
Winwick Athletic FC have been awarded “FA Charter Standard National Development Club of The Year 2009” which includes the prize of playing at Wembley.
Now they urgently need sponsors to help fund the trip on Thursday, August 6 when they will require a total of around £2,000 to pay for two Coaches to transport around 90 people to Wembley.
Secretary Paul McMahon said: “This is superb recognition for all the hard work being put in by our club volunteers on behalf of the local community.
“This really does open the gates for funding applications to support the growth of our football club.
“If anyone wants to contribute even partial sponsorship towards this event then we would ensure that a significant coverage is publised on our website of their contribution and as National Winners this year that should provide a reasonable exposure.
“You would also be making a dream come true for 10-year old kids going to Wembley!”
Anyone who can help with support in any way then please contact Club Chairman, Brian Cookson, on 07908 757 349 who is co-ordinating this first trip for the Club.
Meanwhile the club is involved in a second event to Wembley on Saturday, September 5 when when they will be presented with their National FA Club Award at the England v Slovenia Friendly International Match (kick-off 5.30pm).
Once again the club expects a tremendous level of support at this event and are again seeking sponsors to come forward to partially subsidise the cost of this travel for their many children who play for the club.

  1. Congratulations on your award but given it is a dream come true I would have thought that the proud parent would come up with the £20 coach fare rather than rely on others.
