Bring your own bag campaign

LOW Carbon Lymm – a new group campaigning to reduce the village’s carbon footprint – has launched a “bring your own bag” initiative to try and persuade shoppers to stop using plastic bags.
The aim is to make Lymm completely plastic bag free – as achieved by the village of Modbury, in Dorset.
Low Carbon Lymm distributed leaflets and other literature giving advice on energy saving and greener living at the May Queen festival.
The group has also launched a website at www.lowcarbonlymm.org.uk where more information is available on recycling, etc.
A spokesman for the group said: “Ideally, with support from Warrington Borough Council, we would like to make Lymm plastic bag free. It’s quite simple – you just have to think before you set off for the shops.”
