AFTER more than two decades loyal service at Warrington Town FC Chairman Dave Hughes and Director of Football Derek Brownbill have decided to step down from day-to-day running of the club for a “well earned rest.”
Dave, who has been working hard helping prepare the ground for the current season, remains a director of the club and both are retaining their ties with Warrington Town FC, assisting the new board of directors.
Chief Executive Gary Skentelbery said: “Dave and Derek have both put a tremendous amount of work into keeping Warrington Town Football Club going over the past 20 years.
“Everyone connected with the club would like to thank them for all their hard work and we looking forward to seeing them at Cantilever Park throughout the season.
“When it comes to running a football club they both have invaluable experience and it is comforting to know that they will still be around to assist the board of directors.
“These are exciting times at Warrington Town with a great new partnership with our principal sponsors Warrington Collegiate and hopefully all the hard work that has been going on behind the scenes will be rewarded with the right results on the pitch.
“Warrington as a town deserves to have a successful football club and thanks to our loyal supporters and new sponsors we hope to have a team which can start delivering the right results.”
The club has decided not to appoint a new director of football, with manager Joey Dunn in direct contact with the board.
The position of Football Chairman is still under review.

  1. how about hard working supporters who never left warrington town and saw the club through the turbulant and almost bankrupt times, giving much time and finance

  2. Anybody who puts as many years into a non league club as Mr Hughes and Mr Brownbill deserve nothing but applause. Its a thankless task and if it wasnt for such people lot of clubs would go under.
