A few pints led to a challenge

CHATTING over a few pints led to an energetic challenge for a group of eight dads from Lymm.
The men decided to tackle the Three Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just 24 hours.
Paul Lockett, co-owner of The Venue Bar in Lymm, said: “The plan was hatched over a few pints of Black Sheep bitter in The Venue.
“Training on various peaks took place over the following months and a team was formed and named The Lymm Shepherds.”
The training paid off and the men completed the challenge in 23 hours and 37 minutes – raising more than £3,100 for Spina Bifida.
The other dads who joined Paul on the challenge were Ian Gordon, Mike Smith, Paul Wadsworth, Paul Shuffleton, Richard Napier-Hemy, Simon Meadows and Ric Rurlander.
Pictured are some of the dads with mascot Oinky the Pig – a favourite with youngsters at Oughtrington Primary School – who accompanied them up all three peaks.
