16,000 quizzed on child care

MORE than 16,000 people were asked what they think of childcare in Warrington – and the results will be used to shape future service provision.
Questionnaires were sent out by Warrington Borough Council’s families’ information service to parents, childcare providers and employers. Surveys were also completed on a one to one basis with children and young people.
Parents and carers were asked whether there was sufficient childcare in their area, what they thought about the quality and what improvements could be made.
Employers were asked whether they offer any incentives to working parents such as childcare subsidies, voucher schemes, flexible working, or on-site childcare facilities.
Children and young people in childcare settings were asked if they enjoyed the setting, and what they liked about it.
The results of the survey will inform Warrington’s new childcare strategy, with particular focus on extending free nursery education, the development of out of school and holiday care and childcare for disabled children.
