AN educational day looking at issues such as the ethics involved in embryo testing and studying DNA was enjoyed by youngsters at a Warrington college.
Priestley College welcomed students from Ashton Sixth Form College to campus for the Learner Conference.
Taking part were 20 students from each college looking at opportunities in Science and Maths.
Priestley was awarded Beacon College status in May 2007 and has become a centre of excellence charged with sharing innovative and creative learning with other educational establishments.
Students were given presentations on a variety of subjects and were later involved in practical workshops taught by tutors from both campuses – including a workshop that studied DNA lockets.
Biology tutor Dr Louise Norbury said: “It was great to welcome our friends from Ashton to campus and share our ideas and study techniques with each other.
“The students took a lot from the experience including meeting new people as well as gaining the opportunity to look into issues and topics that are not part of the core curriculum.”
