Public toilet campaigners rebuffed

THE long-running campaign to get the public toilets re-opened at Stockton Heath has met with a “negative response” from the borough council.
A working party set up by Stockton Heath Parish Council to press for the re-opening of the toilets has been given little hope.
Members met borough council officers outside the toilets on the Forge car park and suggested that funding the borough puts into keeping the disabled toilet open could be given to the parish towards the cost of keeping all the toilets open.
Coun Stephen Taylor, a working party member, said: “We had a negative response -they said they would ask, but they were not hopeful.
“The borough council has a policy to reduce the use of public toilets across the borough.”
Parish council chairman Peter Walker said: “If there is a negative response, we will have to move on to Plan B – whatever that is.”
Coun Taylor said alleged “unsavoury behaviour” at the toilets had been merely the catalyst to get the toilets closed. Borough policy was to close toilets because they could not afford to fund them and they were a “low priority.”
Coun Celia Jordan said: “Warrington is not the only town closing toilets – it is common throughout the country.
“There is the expense of keeping toilets open and the unsuitable behaviour that they attract – the two things come together.”

  1. Back to the dark ages with people urinating in the streets!!!.

Not so long ago, the Town Hall wanted Warrington to become a city. Now they are slowly getting rid of all Community Services and activities and just doing the bare minimum.

Perhaps IF they asked what the people wanted, they might get a rude awakening.
