Has serial arsonist struck again?

WARRINGTON’S “serial arsonist” may have struck again during the night.
Fire crews were called out twice to deal with bin fires at the end of Scott Street and outside the Irish Club in Orford Lane.
Both sites are only a few hundred yards from Greenings Court, off Battersby Lane – scene of a series of bin fires in recent weeks.
Earlier this week, Fire Service chiefs warned that the repeated call outs – which at that time appeared to centre on Greenings Court – could result in a serious blaze if the flames spread to nearby property.
They are also concerned that brigade resources are being required to deal with minor “nuisance” fire which could affect their ability to deal with more serious incidents elsewhere.
A spokesman said: “We cannot be sure this is the same person, or persons, who has been responsible for the fires at Greenings Court, but the fires were in the same area.”
Police patrols in the area have been stepped up.
