Cats earn their stripes!

THE spirited and skilful newly formed Cheshire Cats junior Rugby League team once again came up against bigger opposition as they went down 28-0 at Telford Raiders.
Telford’s uncomplicated yet effective game plan was decisive. One barnstorming run after another together with a dazzling length of the field try from their speedometer gave the home side a 22 – 0 lead with the second half barely one minute old.
From then on the Cats showed even more spirit resulting in them spending the majority of the rest of the game in the Raiders’ half. Only a slick handling move from Telford breached the Cats’ defence during this period.
Each member of the Cats’ team earned their Rugby League stripes by surviving some physical hits. Toby Phillips lead by example, battling on despite receiving on or two knocks. Connor Byron continues to grow in stature as a player, excelling in the hooker role. Daniel Munt also stood firm in the face of continuing aggressive defence from bigger opponents.
Ross McKinnon had a stand out game with an error free performance and a high level of involvement – without doubt, his best game to date.
Each member of the Cats’ team can be justifiably proud. The Cats continue to make great strides. The team spirit is palpable and reflects well on everyone connected to the club in its inaugural season.
