The magnificent sixteen!

SIXTEEN cyclists from Warrington are to ride through eight counties to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.
The ride – which will start from Warrington Town Hall on Friday, July 24 – is a tribute to local man Mike Roach who died earlier this year after an heroic struggle against bowel cancer.
The 220 mile route will take in Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Wrexham, Flintshire and Merseyside.
Organiser Ian Downie said: “We lost a great friend in Mike Roach and his memory will live on. This will be a really tough challenge as most of us are novice cyclists. We know it will hurt but his spirit will be with us. It’ll be worth it for such a good cause.”
Each year about 36,000 people in the UK develop bowel cancer and in most cases the cause is still unknown.
For those wishing to support the event a Just Giving website has been established at www.justgiving.com/Caroline-Downie/
