TWO men burst into an off-licence at Warrington, threatened the shopkeer and fled – with an empty cash box.
Police are appealing for witnesses of the raid on the shop in Martin Avenue, Orford.
The two men entered shop shortly after 6.50pm, threatened the 65-year-old shopkeeper and demanded money.
They threatened the victim with what is believed to have been a pair of scissors and tried to open the till.
But when they could not do so they fled with a cash box – which turned out to be empty.
The shopkeeper was not hurt but was left badly shaken.
A 25-year-old local man has since been arrested and refused bail. But the second offender is still at large and police say he is about 5ft 7 inches tall, thin and was wearing dark clothing and a hood covering his face and head at the time of the offence.
They want anyone who witnessed the incident on Sunday, July 5 to contact DC Rob McLoughlin on 01244 614879 or leave a message on the confidential Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
