Design awards for local pupils

PUPILS from three Warrington schools have been awarded certificates for their entries in the national Big Ben 150th anniversary Christmas Card design competition.
Warrington North MP Helen Jones will be visiting the schools tomorrow (Friday) to present the awards.
She will go to Birchwood High School, where two pupils have won awards and to Twiss Green and Newchurch primary schools at Culcheth, which each have a winner.
The youngsters will receives certificates signed by the Keeper of the Great Clock and limited edition badges.
The competition was launched in February year and schools across Warrington were asked to compete. Hundreds of entries were received by Ms Jones from schools in her constituency and she submitted the best entries to the parliamentary authorities.
Overall winner for Warrington North is Danielle Collier and winner in the 7-9 year category is Emily Shortall. Both are pupils at Birchwood High.
Winner of the 3-6 year category is Laura Holcroft, from Twiss Green Primary while winner in the reception to year two category is Maya Bradley, of Newchurch Primary.
