Care home seeks talented volunteers

COTEBROOK home in Lymm is on the look out for talented volunteers to help teach and entertain residents.
Hidden away on Oughtrington Lane, Cotebrook has been a residential home for physically disabled adults since 1946.
Offering both continuing and short term care it caters for people of all ages from 22 upwards, with a variety of physical disabilities or degenerative diseases.
Set in extensive easy accessible grounds, Cotebrook has a range of facilities including Sensory Garden, Day Centre, Cyber Cafe, minibus and frequent evening entertainment. Mosr recently the Wi console was added to the collection of activities to help keep residents active.
Carers are highly trained and committed to providing not just the best of possible care but a social environment which turns the house in to a home.
At the heart of the local community a band of willing volunteers often give up their free time to teach residents new skills.
One resident Peter Biggs (pictured right with Sidney Timms) has been learning the trombone, while Gertrude Bull, (pictured left) Chairman of the Residents group has developed artistic skills.
Manager of the home and Day centre Sidney Timms said: “We have a fantastic team of supporters but we need more. We are keen to hear from people who have a talent, who for a 6 week period could volunteer their services to share with the Day Centre and residents – all kinds of ideas are welcomed.”
During a recent open day to promote the facility a new path and summer house, kindly donated by Lymm Golf Club, was officially opened.
The next fund-raising event is a Strawberry Tea Party and fun afternoon at the home from 1pm-4pm on Wednesday July 8.
Admission is free and cream teas are just £2.
Any who would like more information on how to help out at Cotebrook please call Sidney Timms on 01925 752583.
