Bus company wins top award

WARRINGTON’S bus company has won a top award for customer service.
Council-owned Warrington Borough Transport has achieved a Customer Service Excellence Award – the new UK national standard for public sector organisations overseen by the Cabinet Office.
This award supersedes the charter mark and few organisations in the country have achieved the exacting standards set out by the Government to ensure citizens are always at the heart of operations.
Service delivery, timeliness, information, professionalism and staff attitude in day to day operations are all examined.
WBT chairman Coun Les Hoyle said: “I am delighted that the service our staff work hard to deliver every day for our customers have been formally recognised with this award. I am also proud to say that we are the first bus operator to achieve this award.”
Towards the end of last year WBT was named Shire Operator and UK Bus Operator of the year at the 2008 UK Bus Awards.

  1. I can’t see how that happened – whoever voted this didn’t look too closely. I complained by e-mail through their website about the No.16a not turning up one morning at Lodge Lane (this is a fairly regular occurrence) several weeks ago and never had the courtesy of a reply. Their service does not reflect the fares charged that is for sure!

  2. I am rather surprised that the company that runs the 19 & 28 services came anywhere near getting an award. During the day they are generally late but that isn’t the problem due to various traffic holdups, the main problem is running early in the evenings and in particular on Sundays. The attitude of the drivers seems to be dash down the road and get longer breaks.

  3. I feel the same. I once complained by email through their site and never got an answer. The # 5 turns up when it feels like it most of the time…# 37 & # 38 aren’t reliable either… When they have to re-route the bus because of road work the new route isn’t made for the benefit of the paying customers…last summer and few weeks ago it happened again and I had to walk half a mile to get the bus…which was stupid as there was a better solution…

Anyway, I really don’t feel the company deserves this award at all!!
