ARMED robbers struck twice within a matter of minutes on Warrington’s street.
They robbed four men in two separate incidents in the early hours of Thursday morning, threatening their victims with a hammer and a screwdriver.
One of the items stolen was a distinctive white Fender guitar in a black guitar case.
The first robbery was in Manchester Road at about 1.30am. Two men, both aged 20, were walking home when they were confronted by the two offenders who were brandishing a hammer and a screwdriver.
They were forced to hand over property, including the guitar. The offenders ran off towards Gorsey Lane.
The second incident was in Knutsford Road at about 1.50am.
Two men aged 19and 20 were approached by the two offenders who demanded cash. One of the victims refused and ran off. But one of the offenders followed him, lunging at him with a screwdriver. Both offenders then ran off and some time later a black car, possible a Clio or a Saxo was seen leaving the area.
Police say the offenders were both about 6ft tall and slim. One was aged about 18-20, wearing a dark hooded top, baggy blue jeans and trainers. The second was aged about 16-18, wearing a black hooded top with red markings on it.
He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms.
Both spoke with local accents.
Police are appealing for witnesses of either incident. Anyone who can help should call DC James Pullen on 01244 614893 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
