A WARRINGTON teenager will lead the British and Irish Lions out onto the field for the Third Test in South Africa on July 4.
Dan Ellis, 14, of Whitefield Road, Stockton Heath, will be the mascot when the team plays the Springboks. And Daniel, a pupil of Bridgewater High School, will wear a replica kit of his home team for the big day.
His dad Michael, a partner in a firm of financial advisers, won the trip for the two of them when he entered a draw in the HSBC branch in Stockton Heath.
Michael, 46, previously played in the back row with Warrington Rugby Union Club.
He said: “We are both really looking forward to the trip. Dan is sports mad so it will be great for him.”
The two fly out on Thursday July 2 for their all-expenses paid trip. They will stay in a top hotel in Johannesburg for three nights. They return after the match and hope to be sharing their return trip with the Lions.
